Who we are
We Are Winchester is a trading name of Portfolio Design Ltd (company number 04131285). We are responsible for personal information used to run this website and our services. Write to 2 Chesil Street, Winchester, SO23 0HU, or email info@wearewinchester.co.uk.
What we collect and why
When you email us, enquire about a service or buy advertising, we use your name, contact details, business information, correspondence and order information to respond, arrange the work and keep business records. We rely on taking steps at your request before a contract and performing that contract, our legitimate interests in answering enquiries and running our business, and legal obligations for required records.
For a business feature, we publish the approved business information, text, photographs and contact details intended for publication. Please tell us which details should remain private. We may retain dated archive articles as part of our legitimate interest in maintaining a local publication.
For Find My Builder, we review the project information you send and ask permission before sharing contact details with a suitable building team. Football enquiries are used to respond and arrange participation.
Competitions and optional marketing
When competitions are open, entries include first name, surname, email address, entry time, eligibility confirmation and any optional marketing choices. We use these to administer entry, prevent duplicates, select and contact a winner, and arrange the prize under the competition rules. Winners’ details are shared with the prize provider only as needed to fulfil the prize. Any proposed public winner information is explained in the individual competition rules.
Marketing choices are optional and separate from entering. Where you consent to marketing from us or a named sponsor, your relevant details and consent record are used for that purpose. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe method in the message or contacting the sender. We do not sell entrant lists or share all entries with sponsors for marketing. We retain a minimal suppression record where necessary to honour an opt-out.
Payments and service providers
Stripe processes payments on its own checkout. We receive order and contact information needed to manage the purchase; we do not receive your full card number or security code. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
Cloudflare hosts and protects this site and provides competition database and image storage. When entry forms are available, Cloudflare Turnstile helps check for automated abuse; technical information such as your IP address and browser information may be processed for security. Our email providers process correspondence. We share information with service providers only as needed to deliver and protect our services, and with authorities where legally required.
Providers may process data outside the UK. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards are used, such as recognised adequacy arrangements or approved contractual safeguards. Provider privacy notices give further detail: Cloudflare and Stripe. Contact us about safeguards relevant to your information.
How long we keep information
We retain information for as long as it is needed to deal with the enquiry, deliver the service, fulfil the prize, record consent or meet legal and accounting obligations. The period depends on the service, any ongoing relationship, outstanding queries or disputes, and applicable record-keeping requirements. We review information and remove or anonymise it when it is no longer needed. Approved published articles and photographs may remain in the dated archive; contact us about corrections or removal requests.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your information, have it erased, restrict its use, receive a portable copy, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can always object to direct marketing. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful use. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Email us to exercise your rights or raise a concern. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We do not make decisions about you solely through automated profiling that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Cookies and links
